![]() ![]() I guess that’s entering the crush zone for the Seamoth. Just hilly sand that gradually descends even deeper. Not in this particular game (the terrain is randomly generated each game). I’ve probably had a few beers by now.Īctually, there’s nothing much. After that encounter I need a break.Ī few hours later I start exploring again, wondering what’s out past the mushroom forest. Suddenly, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!!! There’s a variety of technology you can acquire this way. I had to do that before I could build the Seamoth. You can pick one up, take back to your base and put in the Fragment Analyzer to learn the blueprint of that technology. That white rectangular box in the grass is a fragment of some technology. Difficult to find until you develop an eye for them. They are the same color as the sea floor and hidden in the red grass. I’m looking for limestone nodules I can break open for precious metal ore. But I’m terribly freaked out and not long after finding the mushroom forest I leave and head back to the grassy plateaus. I’ll need the lithium to build the Cyclops, the huge submarine in the game, so I gather what I can find. I’m surprise the light can make it down this far, but hey, this is an alien world. It becomes a bit easier to see during the day. It makes me jump sometimes, even when it’s me and my erratic swimming colliding with the Seamoth. Anything that touches the Seamoth causes a very loud metallic clang. Nothing seems hostile, but those mushrooms really bang into the Seamoth when I hit them. I explore a little bit then look up:Īye yai yai! I’ve accidentally made it to the mushroom forest! It’s peaceful actually, and fairly quiet. But I also feel much safer than I would otherwise since I’m in the Seamoth. Kind of freaked out that I’m ended up even deeper in the ocean. I’m kind of excited and finding a new biome. It must be deep since there’s a pretty glowy creature swimming about. ![]() In my haste to move to safety I end up in a new biome. That’s the top rear of the Seamoth on the left. They tend to ignore me, but I move to another location anyways. Then in the distance I see this new life form: The deep ominous echoey sounds are still unsettling since they are so unfamiliar and could be from anything. It’s still creepy as hell down there but staying close to the parked Seamoth, and having a nearby base to flee too helps a lot. I want a compass, a thermometer, a stasis rifle, and other things. I’ll never find the Seamoth again! Then I head out to the grassy plateaus to search for more silver. They are the power source for the Seamoth and I don’t want to get caught deep in the ocean with a dead Power Cell. Doing so damages the submersible but you can repair it with the Welder, as long as the health of the Seamoth doesn’t reach 0%. You can actually kill the Stalkers by slamming into them with the Seamoth. It’s small, doesn’t have storage, but most importantly has infinite air and some protection against hostiles. Here is the Seamoth after it falls into the water: But I’ve got a better shot of the escape pod on the right. I should have oriented the Constructor differently, the Aurora in the background makes the process difficult to see. Once the sun rises I construct the Seamoth.įour small flying laser pods construct the Seamoth in unison above the water. ![]() I think this is sunset, but it could be sunrise, I don’t remember. Once made on the Fabricator, you just release the Constructor outside your base.Īnd there it is. In order to build the Seamoth, I first need to make a Constructor. Once I get “kelp base” reasonably stocked I start scouring the kelp forest and nearby red grassy areas for silver, gold, and ever-necessary copper (used for batteries and power cells which power everything).įinally I get enough silver (I’m skipping on some details). They are not aggressive but will emit little acid balls out of their rump which explode into a dangerous cloud if you get too close. But I have seen other players encounter them on Twitch streams. I haven’t seen this creature in Subnautica before. While traveling back and forth with the SeaGlide to transport supplies to the new base I run into this guy: I now have 3 points of reference to help me navigate. Here’s a view out one of the windows looking into the kelp forest. There aren’t any hostile creatures swimming around. I travel out in one direction to the boundary between the kelp forest and the grassy plateaus and find a nice space to make a second base. The strategy that might help get me acclimated to (simulated) deep sea diving is to build a network of bases as I descend the ocean through the various biomes.
